Zimmers / Vacation Cabins
For the duration of the past few years, Israeli internal tourism has experienced a surge of popularity and went on to thrive, a main phenomenon which gained momentum in consequents was the trend of vacation cabins. The "Zimmer", German for 'room', has become a synonym for vacation in Israel. In the past, when one spoke of a Zimmer it was in reference to a Spartan room, where one could simply sleep at an affordable price. However, nowadays in Israel the cabin sector rolls a sum of nearly a billion NIS a year, and presents a threatening competition to the country's hotels. Surveys have shown that during the past year about a quarter of Israel's population had spent their vacation at least once at a cabin. The Zimmer had evolved from a simple room into a space which serves a variety of guests for a wide array of desires. Basic Zimmers still exist; bar today one can come across far and wide lavish cabins equipped with Jacuzzis, private saunas, kitchenettes, home entertainment centers and many other comforts, all depending on its the target market.
